Our BI team is looking for customer-oriented, analytical and driven individuals. VMware has a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment and will require flexibility to roll up sleeves to participate in various roles to deliver success!
The Business Analyst will be responsible for working with key internal business customers and IT teams to deliver Business Intelligence solutions to support VMware’s growing business with optimized systems/processes.
This role will be responsible for supporting Global teams working with colleagues and stakeholders who are spread across different regions including Americas, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
The position requires the Business Analyst to be a self-starter with project / program management, analytical, and training skills who is comfortable working with distributed teams, at all levels of the organization, and with limited direct management oversight.
Responsibilities & Scope
Become a subject matter expert on internal BI and reporting solutions
Become an advocate for BI usage and drive user-adoption with assigned internal customer groups
Create in-depth business requirements for large projects
Direct stakeholder engagement with business teams to help define / refine / drive the BI strategy
Perform data analysis – identifying trends and key drivers of metrics
Develop expertise on business processes, life-cycles, and data drivers
Conduct QA activities on new solutions introduced into Production
Provide input to BI development team on requirements and enhancements to existing data sets and reporting technologies
Collaborate on the definition of KPIs and metrics to monitor and run the business
Lead reporting projects, taking ownership of successful completion for end to end lifecycle
Support communication, training, and documentation to enable successful user adoption
Provide support to special BI projects such as Proof-of-Concepts, BI tool evaluations, and data analytic activities
Required Skills and Experience: Technical Skills:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required, preference for Computer Science or Business Administration
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in business analysis, requirements development, and solutions implementation of Business Intelligence Solutions
Technical knowledge and experience working with the industry leading BI tools such as Tableau, Oracle BI (OBIEE), Business Objects
Technical and business process knowledge in operational systems including but not limited to Salesforce.com, Oracle ERP, and SAP
Proficient in MS Office (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access)
Solid experience in accessing and working with data (databases, SQL)
Understanding of the primary business functions in a Software organization, such as Sales, Professional Services, Technical Support.
Reporting and BI experience for a Sales function is highly desirable.
Clear, professional, and concise communications (written/verbal), presentation and facilitation skills.
Must be able to use consultative approach and persuasive communication with stakeholders
Ability to take initiative and to set priorities independently
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Experience working in virtual environments
Ability to think strategically
TDWI CBIP certification is a plus
