VMware Security Response Program Managers act as the interface between external security researchers and internal VMware Product teams. As part of the VMware Security Response Team they manage all communications in and out of firstname.lastname@example.org including the development and release of VMware Security Advisories. They liaise closely with many internal and external partners and are the external voice of VMware Security Response.
This position requires a solid foundation in program management skills, a high degree of both written and verbal communication skills, organization skills and a solid awareness of information security concepts. Familiarity with security testing and response planning as well as current industry trends in the area of Information Security is highly desirable as is experience of presenting such as at conferences or to key customers.
Manage the flow of communication in and out of email@example.com including triage of vulnerability reports
Development of written communications such as VMware Security Advisories, blog postings etc
Engage internal, external and customer security communities via Social Media, conferences, Meetups, executive briefings etc
Manage and drive security vulnerability issues to resolution
Effectively manage externally reported software vulnerabilities
Work with customers and partners to understand and resolve product security concerns
Determine trends in security vulnerability reporting and remediation and provide analyses to management.
Charter and work with the security research community to facilitate vulnerability reporting and to keep up with new techniques and tools
BS/MS in Computer Science or related field
5+ years of relevant technical and program management experience
Experience working in an Incident or Security Response function is highly desirable
Up-to-date knowledge of current and emerging application security threats and techniques for exploiting application vulnerabilities
A deep understanding of architecture level security concepts
The ability to create functional processes for managing communication
Strong project management skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent presentation skills
Experience with Secure Software Development activities
Self motivated, independent, and works well within and across functional teams
The passion to make VMware customers more secure
