Software Defined Storage: We are seeking a team member with proven technical strength and demonstrated sustained growth in his or her career. You will be joining a team of innovators that are at early stage of envisioning and designing the next-generation control plane for Software Defined Storage. This new storage management architecture will play a central role in abstracting, provisioning, and orchestrating all the data services in a distributed and virtualized enterprise and cloud provider environment. You will also be challenged to devise innovative ways to make our architecture meet the performance and scalability challenges posed by the future Software Defined Data Centers with millions, even tens of millions of storage entities.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Independently lead the design and development of software components

  • Design and implement storage management system to meet the reliability, performance and scalability requirements of the next-generation of Software Defined Data Center.

  • Influence other VMware development teams and partners to ensure the completeness of end-to-end functionality.

  • Help foster the culture of creativity and excellence through technical innovations and attention to quality and professionalism

  • Support our partners, customers, and community on support forums, blogs, mailing lists, tweets, etc.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience (3+ years for PhD) in high-tech industry

  • Proven track record working on cutting-edge software development projects

  • Excellent Java (preferred) or C++ coding skills required

  • Strong system design and object oriented design skills highly desired

  • Hands on experience with large-scale and distributed system, storage or networking management highly desired

  • Understanding of the principles behind and experience with modern cloud and Big Data technologies and infrastructure services a plus

  • Excellent communication skills required

  • BSCS required, MSCS/PhD welcome
