Technical Consultant- ITBM West Region

The Consultant will be responsible for architecting, configuring and deploying customer solutions based on the VMware SLM and ITFM products that make up the ITBM solution. Consultants work closely with Business Consultants and Project Managers to ensure successful implementations within time and budget. This is a customer-facing role that requires significant travel throughout the US. When not performing billable client work, consultants will also take part in various activities that may include working with product development teams, pre-sales technical teams and associated product training. In addition, consultants will take part in self-improvement and development activities that contribute to the ITBM practice broadly through thought leadership and knowledge sharing.
Day-to-Day activities will include configuring, implementing and deploying out-of-the-box and tailored solutions using best-practice templates and the consultant’s knowledge of industry best practices.
Customer advocate who develops trusted advisor relationships through value based solutions and thought leadership
Ability to translate business and technical requirements to solutions and value realization leveraging VMware’s ITBM platform
Understands VMware ITBM’s implementation methodology and components required to complete project assignments
Participate in architecture and design reviews and assist with producing quality deliverables
Ability to anticipate customer needs and effectively communicate on customer status and issues
Travel as necessary per customer engagements
Domain knowledge of IT services and financial management practices including budgeting, forecasting, demand management, cost allocations, capital and operating expense handling, and infrastructure support
Experience with modern hardware and software integration methodologies, with emphasis on software and hardware architecture, and infrastructure design and development
Experience in infrastructure architecture, design of complex distributed systems environments, including data centers, network / communications, virtual environments, storage, and application development
Configure, test, and document dashboards, reports and underlying data models to meet functional design and specifications
Maintain appropriate and professional demeanor when communicating and interfacing with customers
Develop detailed task plans/technical approaches for projects
Demonstrates effective time management
Provides successful solutions to client business and technical requirements
B.S./B.A./M.S. degree or equivalent technical training preferred in one of the following disciplines: information systems, computer science, software engineering and/or mathematics.
ITIL certification a plus
5+ years of solid experience in a business or technical consultant/analyst role for medium to large scale business software implementation projects.
Strong relational database and SQL knowledge
Strong to expert skills in data analysis/manipulation
Report Development skills in an equivalent reporting tool such as SRS, Crystal Reports, Essbase
Exposure to one or more of the following:
o Application, network, and database monitoring systems such as Tivoli, HP OpenView, BMC Patrol, etc. o ITSM tools such as Remedy, Clarify, Telematics, etc. o Financial applications such as Oracle, SAP, etc.
